Ep. 5: “There’s No End of Remembering”–With Guest Matt Anthony

Ep. 5: “There’s No End of Remembering”- With Guest Matt Anthony.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive form of brain cancer, affecting roughly 15,000-20,000 Americans each year. Our guest, Matt Anthony is one such guest, who’s life has been personally affected by brain cancer, like so many of us who travel in this unique and intimate orbit.

Matt is Head For The Cure Founder and Board President. His journey with the foundation started when his brother Chris was diagnosed with GBM 19 years ago. Upon his passing, he and Matt made a promise to each other–“To keep the fight going, and help all those that are affected by brain cancer.” Matt kept that promise and then some. To date, Head For the Cure has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of research, further clinical trials, and patient resources and supports. There 5K walks and runs have become a beacon of hope and endurance. They provide these events in more than 30 states across the country.

An arm of Head For the Cure, Brains For the Cure, has become a vehicle for patients and caregivers to find doctors, treatment options through resources, support groups, and to become ambassadors in support of others.

Matt feels it’s important to push the boundaries of philanthropy, “We need awareness, we need information, we need human interest. We need stories, like the ones we’re telling today, like the ones on your podcast. Nobody does it alone and nobody should have to. It’s sort of this circle of support that starts with us and hopefully grows.”

Matt has been on shows, radio programs, and has done interviews across the country to help spread the Foundation’s message. Learn more about Matt in this month’s podcast episode!
