S3 Ep. 8: “A 5 year old with GBM shows us how to be brave ” Guest Kelly Barnhart

Kelly Barnhart shares her incredible story with us of her 5 year old son Carson’s GBM story.

A mother of three, a wife, and an educator in the Buffalo school system as well as through Buffalo Hearing and Speech, Kelly has made it her mission to share Carson’s pediatric cancer story to highlight congenital glioblastoma.

Five years ago at five month’s old, Carson was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer–glioblastoma. He underwent aggressive treatment as Kelly shares and is now thriving as a five year old, with his most recent scan being in August 2023 showing “no evidence.”

Kelly opens up about the difficult journey of pediatric brain cancer and tips for other families struggling with this diagnosis, including caregiver tips, and how she and her husband have endured and continue to have a beautiful loving relationship.
